The Warsop Carnival fun day is still the largest free annual outdoor event in North Nottinghamshire.
The Committee
As a Carnival Committee, we know that, no matter how many times a team puts on a show such as this - whether it be for the first time or, for some members, the third time - there will always be room for improvement. We have already identified several such areas and are working towards resolutions.
We aim to make Carnival Day, 2024 even bigger and better than anything before. We do this by regularly asking ourselves the same two questions about previous events:
1. What went well?
2. What could have been done better?
But we don't want to stop there. We'd like to enlist the help of you - the public. We'd like to ask you to feed back your thoughts and ideas for potential improvements - so that, together, we can ensure Carnival Day, 2024 will be the best yet.
To do this, you can fill-in the form on the Contact page and Send it to us.
And, if you are the owner of a stall or attraction and would like to be part of carnival 2024, you can get in touch with us by filling in the form on the Bookings and Enquiries page. We look forward to hearing from you.
Come And Join Us
Do you have what it takes to become a Warsop Carnival Committee member?
Everyone who came to the 2023 Carnival saw and enjoyed the many attractions and entertainment on offer throughout the day, but how many of you know just what goes into making a Carnival Day happen?
The committee is a small band of 10, made-up of ordinary people with a variety of skills which come together to produce the fun day.
A carnival committee must have good planning skills as well as a diverse array of additional skills. These include financial, safety, security, design, technology, advertising, marketing, communication, retail and much more.
A strong committee consists of people with one or more of the above skills, coupled with dedication, determination and enthusiasm. A strong committee is bigger than the sum of its parts - or the individuals within - and the more members, the greater the diversity and potential the committee has to accomplish its tasks.
Each member of the Warsop Carnival Committee worked long hours on Sunday (from 6am until 8pm). Each member had a specific role to play - and in most cases, many roles to juggle with throughout the day. They also put many hours of work into the previous Friday and Saturday preparing the site and yet more hours on the following Monday to pack-up the site.
A committee member must have plenty of spare time. A show is not planned overnight, nor can it be. It takes months of hard work to bring everything together for the final day. The number of hours spent during the months of planning by each member are too many to count.
A committee member is resourceful and diverse. Is understanding, considerate and professional.
A committee member is a team player who is able to deal with dissappointment and accept criticism - it's not all fun and games and things don't always go as planned.
A committee member brings individuality to the team and challenges or views new ideas from an alternate perspective.
A committee member does not get paid or enjoy any financial rewards. In fact, the only reward offered to each committee member is self satisfaction of a job done to the best of their ability - oh, and a meal voucher on the day.
Do you still want to join us?
We believe that everyone in the local community has a skill of some sort or another to offer - which could strengthen the committee as a whole and bring benifits to the next carnival.
If you think you have something to offer - and the above describes you, please consider joining our small band so that the next carnival can be bigger and better than the last. Just think what could be achieved with a team twice the size as that for 2023.
To apply, simply speak to a member of the committee or message us on FaceBook or email us at warsopcarnival@yahoo.co.uk or even fill-in the form on the Contact Us page of our website. We are waiting to hear from you!
To all our Sponsors and Volunteers...
A massive 'thank you' goes to all our Sponsors and Volunteers - without who's help and generosity, this site and the fun day itself, would not be possible.
Tania Barlow: A Tribute to a Community Pillar
In the heart of Warsop, a vibrant tapestry of community spirit and celebration was woven together by many hands, but few were as dedicated and influential as Tania Barlow. As a long-standing and passionate member of the Warsop Carnival Committee, Tania's contributions over the years have left an indelible mark on our town and in the hearts of all who knew her.
Tania's unwavering commitment to the Warsop Carnival was evident in every detail of the events she helped organise. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and her ability to inspire those around her ensured that each celebration was a resounding success. Whether it was planning parades, coordinating volunteers, or simply spreading joy, her touch was unmistakable.
Beyond the carnival, Tania's role as a community advocate was unparalleled. She devoted countless hours to planning and volunteering for events throughout the year, always with a smile and a can-do attitude. Her selflessness and dedication were not just limited to the grand occasions; she was equally invested in the small moments that brought people together and fostered a sense of belonging.
Tania's legacy extends far beyond the events she helped create. Her genuine care for the community and her tireless efforts to make Warsop a better place will be remembered for generations. She was a beacon of kindness, always ready to lend a hand and support others in their endeavors. Her spirit of generosity and community will continue to inspire us all.As we reflect on Tania's life and contributions, we are reminded of the profound impact one person can have on a community. Tania Barlow was more than a volunteer; she was a friend, a mentor, and a true champion of the community spirit. Her legacy lives on in the joyous memories of the events she helped bring to life and in the hearts of those who had the privilege of working alongside her.
In honoring Tania, we celebrate a life well-lived and a community made richer by her presence. Her dedication and passion will forever be a part of Warsop's history, and her memory will continue to inspire us to come together, to celebrate, and to care for one another, just as she did.
We send our deepest condolences to her son Joe, and to all of her friends and family. Thank you, Tania, for everything you have given us. You will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Bowring:
Bowring Transport Ltd. are one of our biggest sponsors. They have been supporting Warsop Carnival for many years - for example, they provide flat-bed trailers for our stage.
Founded in 1951, Bowrings has grown from a small livestock transporting business to one of the largest privately owned haulage companies in the East Midlands. With a fleet of over 60 vehicles, there's not much they can't or don't move!
